Entered into force December 8, 1995.
In accordance with Article XVI, paragraph 2, the Convention entered into force on the thirtieth day following the date on which at least four signatory States, including the Russian Federation and the United States of America, which are the coastal States of the Bering Sea, deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance or approval with the Depositary [the United States of America].
In accordance with Article XVI, paragraph 3, the Convention entered into force for each of the other signatory States on the thirtieth day following the date of deposit of that State’s instrument of ratification, acceptance, or approval. Article XVI, paragraph 4 of the Convention provides that, after entry into force of this Convention, the Parties may, by unanimous agreement, invite other States whose nationals and fishing vessels wish to conduct fishing for pollock in the Convention Area to become Parties to this Convention. This Convention shall enter into force for any such other State on the thirtieth day following the date of deposit of the State’s instrument of accession.
